ATELIER ONLINE

Mosaic of Marks, Words, Material

This Atelier proposes deeper exploration of how drawing/mark-making and words are informed by perceptions – visual, tactile, sound, kinaesthetic and more – produced in the encounter with materials, and how much these perceptions and their connected emotions contribute to shaping new narratives, mental imagery and elaborations in drawing.

The Mosaic of Marks, Words, Material online Atelier is an invitation to experiment with encounters between mark-making that tools leave very different marks and sheets of different material, grain and size.

The marks left by each tool change identity in relation to the quality of the surface encountered, in an infinity of explorations that can extend the author's exploratory and expressive intents and their verbal narratives and stories.

Each person, from home, will be able to construct an original pathway of research supported and sustained by a Reggio Children pedagogista and atelierista, live-streaming from the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre.

In your Reserved Area you will find the list of easy-to-find materials needed in order to participate in the Atelier.

The Mosaic of Marks, Words, Material Atelier Atelier was born of experience on the theme of drawing and mark-making woven with narrative in Reggio Emilia's municipal infant-toddler centres and preschools.

From this journey an exhibition-atelier and catalogue were created to bring together the processes and work of children in Reggio's centres and schools and to offer further opportunities for a deeper understanding and continuing to explore with children and adults of all ages.

The catalogue is available from the Reggio Children Bookshop
