On children’s language of photography, between drawing, clay, photography and digital
The Human Figure Multiplied examines the theme of representing the human figure, through a weave of drawing, clay, photography and digital, investigating how this weave might change traditional processes of representation to inform children’s creative thinking.
"Children are born once. Then it is as if they were born a second time, in the long and laborious work of giving themselves identity […] of recognise themselves and being recognised. But above all, and this is the purpose they aspire to most, of recognising themselves in others, and in others finding parts of their self."
Loris Malaguzzi
The Human Figure Multiplied includes works by authors of different ages – from 9 months to fourteen years – and wishes to explore in deeper ways how the weaving of different languages like marks and drawing, clay, and photography, can change the traditional processes of representing the human figure and inform children’s creative thinking.
The exhibition’s starting point is the conviction that thinking and abilities are structured in the border areas between different languages and techniques, and that this mode belongs naturally to children and human beings. Constructing educational contexts which make this possible brings richer experience and knowledge.
As a subject for investigation the human figures is interesting because their representation them activates sensibilities, perceptions and references to the self.Using different languages opens up several representational possibilities, expressive and cognitive, and supports visual, expressive and formal research, which is conducive to distancing stereotype, and perception of different points of view.

In the Shape of Clay atelier is an invitation to experiment with clay, a material that is soft, fresh, generous and caressable, but at the same time tenacious, and that lets itself be shaped by gestures of the hand, the most immediate and the most knowing, and also through using different kinds of tools.
